Privacy, in plain words

Bin Buddy is built to know as little about you as possible. There is no account, no ads and no tracking.

Photos and scans

Scanning runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. Photos are never uploaded, never stored by us and never used for training.

Location

If you tap Find my district, Apple's geocoding service turns your iPhone's location into an address so Bin Buddy can pick your district. Bin Buddy keeps only the district and area you chose, on your iPhone.

Usage counts

Bin Buddy sends anonymous daily counts of what happens in the app, such as "a scan happened" or "a scan found glass", to our own server. They come with the app's version, a random ID the app makes for itself, the app language and your province (like Seoul), and never include your photos, what you search for, your district or your exact location. To keep out fake data, the app asks Apple's DeviceCheck to confirm it's on a real iPhone. Our server sees your IP address while it answers, uses it only to limit how often a device can sign up, and doesn't store it. The counts aren't sold or shared with anyone.

Ask Buddy, messages and translations

Questions to Ask Buddy, the Korean messages Buddy writes and translated district notices are all handled on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence and Apple's Translation.

Purchases

Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account.

Reminders

Trash night reminders are scheduled on your iPhone.

Children

Bin Buddy is not directed at children under 13.
